115th Unit Weymss Camp

Picture
The 115th Explorer Unit were invited along to their Scout Sections end of term camp. The Explorers took part in the Scouts Beach Party on Thursday 2nd July and camped from the then til Sunday 5th. There was plenty peace and quiet on the Thursday night for the Explorers to set up their site as the Scouts were not coming back to camp until the Friday night. Friday the 3rd July saw the Explorers embarking on a hike from Weymss Fir campsite through Coaltown of Weymss to West Weymss for a spot of lunch and back up to Weymss. The Explorers took part in a lot of activities over the weekend, pioneering, back woods cooking and of course a round or two of camp golf.

I think all the Explorers there would agree the back woods cooking was particularly effective. See the page 2 of the picture pages for photos. I will upload instructions for the back woods logs soon. The Explorers cooked their evening meal on the log cookers, which were so hot that our sausages became mince in a matter of minutes. Didn't stop Graeme having 3 servings though!!

Apart from the midges...oh and of course the ticks the weekend was very successful. The Explorers really enjoyed their weekend of Scouting Skills and the Leaders have said there are plenty more planned. Well hopefully not at Weymss again, 2 days later my feet and legs are still swollen with bites!
